Arctic Sessions Keynote Speaker Series
TAPS is recognized as the pioneer Arctic engineering project in North America. It has been in operation for 45 years and is planning to extend operations into the future. This keynote presentation will include background on the original design considerations, resilient designs for pipelines on permafrost, performance to date and implications of climate change. Discussion will include monitoring systems in place to detect integrity issues, procedures developed to retrofit to compensate for degrading permafrost and redundancies built into the original design to cope with uncertainties in the thermal designs. This session is a must for Arctic engineering professionals charged with designing future projects in the high Arctic.
