With design and construction commencing at an unprecedented rate globally, opportunities for innovation continue to grow. Lessons learned from traditional offshore energy disciplines can provide important efficiencies in offshore wind. Challenges for foundation, cabling, structural design, and construction activities are being overcome with a wide range of offshore expertise. The panel will discuss prioritizing and addressing the fundamental technical obstacles in offshore wind energy. Discussing the biggest challenges will explore how our community’s broad offshore energy experience can be effectively applied to meet the U.S. targets.
