Climate Compatibility Checks - New Oil and Gas Developments
Wednesday, 3 May
Energy Transition Pavilion Stage
Energy Transition Presentations
Decarbonisation is often equated with de-fossilisation. Decarbonisation targets across the globe set out by governments, industry sectors and lending institutions are therefore often equated with the need to stop new oil & gas developments. Solutions such as electrification through a variety of energy sources, as well as carbon capture, provide the industry with short-term pathways towards significant emissions abatement in their Energy Transition Journey, engaging operations, innovation and technologies accordingly.
This session will look to explore the role of Oil and Gas in an Integrated Energy value chain and how new developments specifically in carbon capture and electrification through nuclear and other technologies can be demonstrated to be aligned with decarbonisation targets using the Climate Compatibility Checkpoint concept.
